Andros Routes at World Travel Market, London

Andros Routes was represented for a second year at the 2017 World Travel Market in London. Along with representatives of local businesses. Richard Gillespie, Andros Routes ambassador in the UK, manned the Andros stand at the Excel conference centre in London on 6th and 7th November. One of the largest travel industry events of the year with over 51,000 travel professionals attending, the World Travel Market gives Andros and the Routes project exposure on a world stage. We were able to meet travel companies interested in Andros as a destination as well as travel writers and bloggers who saw the Andros Routes project and off season hiking on Andros as something different to the usual Greek island travel story to write about. During the conference we engaged with travel professionals from many regions including the UK, France, Ireland and Germany and we had a brief visit from the Greek Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura. Now the work starts to make sure that we continue to engage with the contacts we made to help us achieve our objective of introducing more hikers to the enchanting scenery and the warm and welcoming people of Andros. Thanks to Dimitris Paschalidis and the team at the Southern Aegean region for organising the show and for putting together a fantastic eye catching stand.
