On Sunday, October 12, the 13th maintenance hike was organized from the Matzoros bridge to Ano Gavrio, Scholi and finally Panagitsa chapel, a circular route that combines parts of routes 14, 15a and 15.
We gathered 27 hikers and a dog, Zouzouna. In the group we had 5 restless children and two visitors from Paris who were on vacation on the island.
After the regular introduction cycle, we entered the low-lying zone by the stream where we collected a lot of garbage and cut down dense vegetation where necessary. At the height of Agia Sophia, we made a stop for a rest since there was a steep uphill path with difficult terrain that was not easy…
A good stop at the highest point with an excellent view rested us once again and we started the descent towards the stone-built settlement of Scholi on a very good path-section of the certified Andros Route that led us back to Panagitsa chapel, where we completed our route in 4 hours.
Many thanks to all our fellow hikers for their participation, volunteer work and positive spirit.
We look forward to seeing you at the next maintenance hike on Sunday, October 26!
